Modular Platform Technology in Bus Repowering

For bus fleets, electrification has to work around service availability.

Routes still need to run, while passenger capacity still needs to be protected and vehicles still need to return to service with minimal disruption.

That is where modular platform technology can make a practical operational difference.

Equipmake’s repower process starts with the vehicle and the route – so assessing battery capacity, motor and inverter packaging, HVAC, charging, driver controls, weight distribution and axle loadings against the duty cycle of the fleet.

From there, the platform can be configured to the application, while the installation process is engineered to reduce unnecessary vehicle modification, support subassembly builds and help limit off-road time.

For operators, a more repeatable conversion process can help reduce risk, simplify maintenance planning and support faster commissioning, while training and telemetry-led support help fleets manage vehicles during early mileage.

Because in bus electrification, while success is measured by emission reduction, it ultimately comes down to how effectively the vehicle returns to the timetable – day in, day out.
