Equipmake & Textron GSE: Electrifying Aircraft De-Icing

Our engineers believe electrification needs to deliver in the most demanding real-world environments, and go beyond an ambitious plan on a page.
That’s exactly what we’ve achieved through our partnership with Textron GSE, bringing zero-emission capability to a critical airside operation in aircraft de-icing.
The all-electric Safeaero 220E is powered by our bespoke Zero Emission Drivetrain, integrating our in-house electric motor, ASIL-D inverter, advanced battery systems and thermal management technology.
The result is a fully electric solution capable of operating reliably in extreme cold conditions – without compromising performance, efficiency or safety.
The Safeaero 220E builds on the proven efficiency of the original platform, enabling single-operator control while delivering quiet, emissions-free performance on the tarmac.
It demonstrates how even the most specialised, high-demand airport vehicles can transition to zero emissions while maintaining and enhancing operational capability.
Decarbonisation is rising up the agenda of airports and ground handlers worldwide, and solutions like this show what’s possible and delivers meaningful results today.
From buses to aerospace, and now airside ground support, we’re proud to be applying our technology where it matters most, helping accelerate the transition to cleaner, more efficient transport across every sector.
