In a recent video discussion, Equipmake CEO Ian Foley shared insight into how the company’s strategic relationship with Caterpillar developed.

Ian Foley explains that the relationship began through Perkins, a Caterpillar subsidiary, where Equipmake worked on a motor and inverter system for Perkins’ first hybrid engine platform. This collaboration gave Caterpillar early exposure to Equipmake’s engineering capability and technology.

He also highlighted Equipmake’s high power-density electric motor technology, which delivers strong performance while taking up less space than conventional motors - an important advantage in heavy vehicles and specialist equipment.

The discussion comes shortly after Equipmake announced a further £3 million strategic investment from Caterpillar Venture Capital, following the £5 million investment announced in March 2025, highlighting the continued development of the relationship between the two companies.
