In Partnership with Agrale: Fast-Tracking Bus Electrification

For many bus OEMs, the challenge of electrification is about bandwidth.

Developing a zero-emission powertrain in-house demands specialist skills, functional safety expertise, validation infrastructure and time. For manufacturers with limited internal EV resource, that can slow programmes down or increase risk at exactly the moment speed to market matters most.

That’s where modular electric powertrains can make the difference.

At Equipmake, we work with bus builders to deliver fully integrated, production-ready drivetrain systems – combining motor, inverter, control electronics and energy storage into a validated, scalable solution that can be adapted across platforms and duty cycles. OEMs retain control of vehicle design and brand differentiation, while avoiding the need to build a full EV engineering organisation from scratch.

Our collaboration with Agrale is a strong example of this approach in action. By partnering on a complete electric drivetrain solution, Agrale has been able to accelerate its transition to zero-emission buses, progressing from initial deployment to series supply without the burden of extensive in-house powertrain development

As cities and operators increasingly demand cleaner fleets, modularity, proven engineering and close OEM collaboration are becoming essential enablers of electrification – particularly for mid-size manufacturers operating in demanding markets.

Electrification doesn’t have to mean starting from zero. With the right partner, it can be a faster, lower-risk route to delivering reliable, zero-emission public transport at scale.
