Equipmake's Project Coeus partnership with Perkins reaches demonstration milestone

Project Coeus, Equipmake's collaboration with Perkins and Loughborough University, has reached a key milestone. Perkins has begun testing the project's hydrogen hybridised power unit inside an Ecotec TDS 820 shredder, working with Terex.

The three-year programme is backed by £11.14 million of UK Government funding through the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK. The unit delivers 379 kW (508 hp) from its engine and integrated motor generator, and it can run on hydrogen, ethanol, methanol or bio-methane.

Andy Curtis, Customer Solutions Director, Perkins:

Demonstrating in machine is a key milestone for the team. Showing the system operating in a real-world application recognises the progress made over the past two years.

Watch Ian Foley, CEO, discuss the milestone with Perkins.
